Ambika Soni launches e-commerce platform on Incredible India

The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India has launched a new e-commerce platform on its website The e-commerce platform has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Eviivo. The main objective of this platform is to facilitate small and medium entrepreneurs to be on the global network to promote and sell their product online without any committed investment.

Incredible India and technology partner Eviivo will offer online booking services for a range of accommodation businesses across India, enabling international visitors -- who currently represent 70 per cent of the site traffic -- and domestic visitors to use the new hotel and bed and breakfast establishment live availability search on the homepage and complete their transaction in US dollars or Indian rupees.

Launching the platform, Ambika Soni, Tourism and Culture Minister, said, “There is no doubt that the web-based enabled services tourism will strengthen the industry and empower the customers. This platform is a part of the Ministry’s initiative to promote and the Indian bed and breakfast sector. It will facilitate customers to communicate directly with agencies, tour operators, hotels, and bed and breakfast establishment 24 hours a day.” Soni added that many service providers, hotels, tour operators, and bed and breakfast establishment have become registered members of the e-commerce platform.

Through Eviivo’s technology, the Ministry of Tourism will integrate third party consolidators and multiple partners so that it can offer a truly open platform for all service providers in the tourism industry. Current partners include,,,,,, and
