Reliance Communication trends on Twitter, lures consumers with its '4GPeTalkFree' offer
Reliance Communications’ new offer trends on Twitter with people promoting the operator, while its competitors are playing with innovative price structures to drive mass market adoption
To address the call drop issue and bring in more consumers, telecom operator Reliance Communications recently introduced its 4G app-to-app calling offer called ‘Call Drops Se Chutkaara’ (freedom from call drops) for customers in Delhi NCR, available at an introductory price of Rs 1 for 300 minutes of talk-time for 30 days. The feature has caught on as it was trending on Twitter under the hashtag ‘4GPeTalkFree’ with over 3,139 tweets, and even users were seen promoting Reliance Communications 4G.
Earlier Reliance rolled out its test run offer called Reliance Jio Preview offering users unlimited access to Jio services for 90 days from the time of activation, ahead of its commercial launch either in October or December. These include, Jio's high-speed unlimited 4G LTE, HD voice calls, video calls, SMS, and host of Jio apps. Over the last week, it made its SIM cards available to a wider range of smartphones, driving people to queue outside Reliance Digital and other retail stores.
With this feature already catching on, the company is swiftly adding new smartphone models to its list almost every day. What started out as an exclusive deal for Reliance Digital’s LYF smartphone buyers has now expanded to nearly 20 smartphone companies including Samsung, LG, Asus, Micromax, HTC and Intex among others.
Not to lose out on their consumers to the disruptive ‘Preview Offer’ and to drive mass market adoption, the telecom operators, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea have cut tariff and bundled free calls with data. They have been toying with innovative price structures with market leader Airtel announcing two plans with data tariffs lowered by a striking 80%. Idea has also introduced smaller ticket monthly 3G/4G data plans starting from as low as Rs 9 (for 20 MB, 28 days).
