#JayaVerdict trends as J Jayalalitha acquitted in disproportionate assets case

Critics as well as supporters of former CM of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa took to Twitter to react on her being acquitted in disproportionate assets case. Many on Twitter criticised the Indian judiciary system on the grounds of two successive high profile cases where the accused were acquitted, (#SalmanVerdict another case in point).

She had been convicted last year in an 18-year old corruption case. Supporters of Jayalalithaa are celebrating fervently in Tamil Nadu after her acquittal. People gathered outside her house chanting ‘long live amma’ and offered prayers for her.

After being released, Jayalalithaa made the following statement, "I am immensely satisfied with the verdict... Verdict paved way for me to emerge like tested pure gold.”

#JayaVerdict trended on Twitter all day long yesterday.
