Producer-entrepreneur Jackky Bhagnani launched his music label Jjust Music on Monday
Jjust Music, a brainchild of producer-entrepreneur Jackky Bhagnani, was launched in Mumbai on Monday. A label with a difference, Jjust Music talks about justice for the artists, freedom of expression and the right to earn. The label believes in promoting music that will resonate with the masses.
According to Bhagnani, Jjust Music promises to be a dedicated independent music label platform and nothing else. “Jjust Music stands strong as a platform to give fair opportunities, freedom of expression and justice to independent artists, both established as well as aspiring,” said Bhagnani on the occasion of the launch of the logo.
Talking about the distribution strategy, Bhagnani said they have forged partnerships with several digital platforms. "We have partnered with almost every streaming platform, especially Saavn and Gaana. We will be present on all platforms like any other label."
On being asked about the USP of Jjust Music as a label, Bhagnani said giving freedom of expression to artists, and the ability to take risk are their biggest USPs.
Explaining how the label provides justice to artists, Bhagnani shared, "First, the most important thing is to give them the freedom to express, second is to give them the platform to perform and third is to help them reach the audience. Finally, the fourth is to financially reward the artists when the songs work and when the revenue starts flowing in."
Talking about the idea behind Jjust Music, Bhagnani said," The ‘J’ of Jjust Music stands for justice that the label provides to all its artists. Being an independent music label, we, like films, will not ask the artists to create music for a given situation. It will give artists the freedom to express and explore their creativity. The label will also support them to explore across genres and help them reach out to a wide audience."
Discussing the revenue generation model on which the label will work, Bhagnani said, "The revenue will be generated primarily through streaming. Then, royalty will come in terms of publishing. We have been working on it for the past 18 months, and look forward to generate a revenue of Rs 5 crore at the end of the first year."
So which production houses does Bhagnani see as his competitors? "No, I don't consider them as competitors. In fact, if the production houses need any of my music, we will licence it to them and that's another revenue model for us," he answered.
“We have many artists with us, including The Doorbeen Boys (Omkar & Gautam), Shreya Sharma, Chetas, Lijo George, Vishal Mishra and Rahul Jain. We will announce more names as and when we launch their songs. We will release a song in every 15-20 days in the first year. In the second year, we will try to do 30-35 songs in a year, and in the third year, hopefully, we should have one song every week. The first single being released by the label is with Lamberghini fame Doorbeen Boys. This will be followed up with a promising and strong line-up of talent."
