Arianna Huffington, who co-founded the Huffington Post will be stepping down from the company in the coming weeks to focus on a soon-to-launch startup dedicated to health and wellness—Thrive Global.
Her departure comes at a very interesting time for the company, and seems to signal a changing of the guard. One of her top lieutenants, Roy Sekoff, left the company at the end of last year. Sekoff was seen as Huffington's right-hand man, and he had been with the company since the beginning.
When the Huffington Post was sold to AOL five years ago, she was named president and editor in chief of Huffington Post Media Group, which took on other AOL media properties such as Engadget, TechCrunch, Moviefone and MapQuest.
