eBay names MediaCom as global media agency of record
The move consolidates eBay's media business with WPP following a closed review between WPP and Publicis, eBay's agency of record in North America
eBay has named WPP's MediaCom as its global media agency of record, thus consolidating its media business with WPP, say reports. Publicis has been eBay's agency of record in North America, while MediaCom handles their business in Europe and Australia. The mandate, however, does not include Asia.
According to reports, the appointment follows a closed review between WPP and Publicis, which reportedly came after management and operational changes at eBay. These changes are aimed at strengthening coordination between eBay's regional teams under one operational lead while allowing marketing teams to function region by region.
It had also been reported earlier this year that eBay met with McCann Worldgroup in the U.S. to discuss its global creative account. 72andSunny handles eBay's creative business, but McCann has been roped in over a year ago as a partner for the EMEA region.
