Video production start-up based out of Kochi, CAT Entertainments, has disrupted the way video content is produced and viral ad films are made. CAT has successfully brought together technicians, actors and crew sitting in five countries across three continents.
CAT Entertainments specialises in ad and digital films and has executed two projects during this lockdown remotely with the help of technology. For VIVO India, CAT produced an ad film as part of Kerala's Onam festival which was shot in the UAE, Australia, Canada and the US besides Kochi and Mumbai in India simultaneously streaming live and controlled by key crew sitting in Kochi. The outcome, '#HappyOnam from VIVO India' video released in Kerala through TV and social media went viral garnering millions of views quickly.
The second project was a digital film for FMCG major ITC on World Environment Day 2020. For the film based on the theme of 'mother earth heals herself amidst the pandemic', CAT team gathered visuals remotely from Mumbai, Agra, Jalandhar, Chennai and Kolkata. The simultaneous shooting was done as per the live instructions and coordination of the director and producer through video conferencing. They went the extra mile virtually to pick actors from across the globe, train them, find favourable locations and finally translate the script into a video reality.
"Because of the pandemic we had two major challenges for the production of this ad film. One was to execute a shooting with over 45 people in an indoor facility by abiding Covid19 protocol, in Kochi, India and the second one was to capture visuals remotely from the locations like Mumbai, Dubai, New York, Canada & Australia, which was completely done with Zoom call, where our Director, DOP, Actor and Camera operators were joined from different locations to do it, which made us experience the absolute New Normal in the production, " says Amarnath Sankar, CEO & Producer
"We executed the shoot especially the remote ones in unconventional ways. We initially picked actors from all the locations outside of India and assigned them to find favourable locations to shoot according to our Storyboard. And we trained them how to perform, remotely from their homes via video conferencing and they did in the best manner during the shoot, which was also conducted remotely. The performances of the actors were very much critical, according to the core theme of the film, and we have successfully made it Possible," says Chachu Jacob, CCO & Director.
