Videocon to announce new media partner soon

Videocon Group, which has been scouting for a media agency for the past month, is said to have completed the pitch process. It is understood that most of the major media agencies were queuing up for the business. Industry sources peg the account to be in the vicinity of Rs 200 crore.

Videocon officials were not available for comments at the time of filing the report, but sources close to the development informed that Videocon was in the midst of a hunt for planning partner only on all its brands and that a decision on this would be announced soon.

As is known, the Videocon Group has many brands under its umbrella that, other than the flagship brand Videocon, include Kenstar, Sansui, Electrolux, Akai, Hyundai and Kelvinator. Also, the Group recently forayed into the direct-to-home category, which is reportedly slated to launch by April-end 2009, and in the cellular category with Datacom.

Last month, Videocon had re-jigged its creative portfolio and divided the duties of its various brands between IPG’s TAG and Saatchi & Saatchi.
