The jury is still out on the Videocon creative pitch

Following the recent management restructuring at Videocon, the industry is keeping a close watch on the result of the creative review of the consumer durable giant, which is to be announced very soon. O&M is the agency on board for the business. There have been reports recently that Saatchi & Saatchi is slated to get the business, though officials close to the development clarify that the decision is not finalised yet.

Recently, Videocon appointed KR Kim as Vice-Chairman and CEO of Videocon Industries. An industry source informs that as Videocon is simultaneously undergoing restructuring, especially on the sales, marketing and innovation fronts, the brand will soon be shifting its base to Delhi.

Regarding the decision on a new creative agency and if Saatchi is the strongest contender, a Videocon official close to the development said, “The decision is still to be finalised. As of now Videocon is in a restructuring mode. As for the speculation about Saatchi & Saatchi being the likely winner, it is not true. Yes, it is true that we have invited a few agencies for the pitch which also includes Saatchi & Saatchi. As of now we are still in the process of reviewing other agencies’ presentations as they are still to present their ideas.”

Besides Saatchi & Saatchi and O&M, the other agencies in the fray are TBWA, Interface and Capital Advertising. According to the official, the decision will be out by the end of the week.
