Starcom bags Rs 10-cr Voltas media account

Following the disintegration of the Tata media business, another company from the group, Voltas has also decided on its agency. The account is now with Starcom. As a part of the Tata group, the business hitherto was with The Media Edge. The account is pegged in the region of Rs 10 crore.

The pitch was called in December 2004. Other agencies in the pitch included MPG, ZenithOptimedia and Carat. With this development, Starcom would take care of the media planning and buying for Voltas. Sharing more on the reasons of why the business was awarded to Starcom, Voltas' Rajesh Jain expresses, "We took into account parameters like strategic focus, value addition and the rates that the agencies could get for us. On all this counts, Starcom emerged as the most apporpriate partner and hence we decided to go with them."

The agency is excited with the win. Anita Nayyar, Executive Director, Starcom Worldwide, North Operations says, “Pitching for Voltas has been an excellent experience and winning the business has been even better. It is a great feeling of pride to be associated with Voltas where the competition was tough.”

She further adds, "Starcom Delhi has been on a steady growth curve since 2003 when the business grew by 147 per cent and yet again by 50 per cent in 2004.A rooster of clients were won in the capacity of media AoR businesses and also full service business with our creative partners Leo Burnett."

The list of clients include the likes of Ricoh – Printers, DLF ,Lambency face packs,Genus invertors, Modi Colorbar ,Corning contact lenses and full service clients like Tetrapak, GAIL, Aircel.
