Shine.com launches awareness campaign to check job frauds

Job portal Shine.com has launched a fraud awareness campaign to caution job-seekers against the scamsters making false job commitments. Launched in public interest on the occasion of April Fool’s Day, the campaign is aimed at educating people about how they should avoid falling prey to job frauds and be careful of all such false guarantees of a job against money.

The campaign has come out at a time when an increasing rate of such frauds has become a serious concern for job-seekers as well as the job search portals. The campaign is an initiative by Shine.com to eradicate this industry issue and strengthen the faith of job-seekers in job search portals. The entire campaign reflects the core value of the company i.e., giving wings to the aspirations of the job-seekers.

The campaign video is a humorous representation of a serious problem of job frauds that is affecting the lives of job seekers, both young and old. It showcases how easily some people can get fooled when big job offers come in their way and urges them to be careful of the people promising jobs for money. The video concludes with a message for the job-seekers on how to differentiate between a real and a fake job offer.

The video has become viral within a short span of time and has garnered around 2 lakh views and 500 shares in just one day.

Neha Kaul, Marketing Head of Shine.com, said, “Fraud awareness is a big agenda for us this year. We plan to take this up as a cause this year and spend at least 10-15% of our budget to create awareness about it. While job frauds are a serious subject, people don’t like listening to prevention messages, which is why we decided to use April Fool’s Day as a plank to launch this.”

“We have seen cases where people have spent their savings or sold off an asset to finance these payments only to be duped by someone. By the time these complaints come to us, the perpetrator would be long gone, and so we decided that a more proactive approach is needed like that taken by the banking industry where we go directly to the consumers and educate them about how to identify and prevent being defrauded,” Kaul said.

“Remember, just because someone calls you and says they are from Shine.com, doesn’t mean they are actually calling from Shine.com. And if a caller is asking for money in exchange for a job, then that should be an immediate red flag because Shine.com or in fact any good job portal, never asks for money or guarantees a job,” she added.

Conceptualized and executed by Shine.com in association with MensXP, the campaign rolled out on March 31 across all digital platforms and radio channels.
