Samyak Chakrabarty to exit DDB Mudra as Chief Youth Marketer

Samyak Chakrabarty has resigned yesterday as DDB Mudra Group's Chief Youth Marketer.

He has been associated with the DDB Mudra Group in 2011 once the agency decided to partner with Chakrabarty’s start up Electronic Youth Media which was then India's first youth marketing & communications agency. Since then he has worked on building the only specialized unit for Youth Research, Engagement & Marketing in an advertising agency.

Chakrabarty also featured in IMPACT magazine’s Top 30 under 30 for two years in a row, and was recognized as Young Emvie of the year 2014.

Going forward he will be setting up Social Quotient - India's first Social Cause Marketing and Communications company.

On the new venture, Chakrabarty comments, “The  idea is to build IPs where core element is social impact and brands can integrate themselves for example "The Green Batti Project" which is India's largest one-on-one mentoring program and we are also building a mobile app which incentives youth to volunteer. More number of hours clocked for on ground efforts will result in purchase credits on a popular e-commerce website.”

Social Quotient has signed a JV with Cineyug to launch "SamajScope" which will create online content / conversations for brands around social causes - another first in the industry.

He is also contemplating on collaborating with Pratap Bose to take Youth Marketing as a concept to the next level. “The idea is to move beyond client brief based work to building/owning cutting edge engagement platforms for higher ROI & more exclusive engagement opportunities in an otherwise cacophonic environment,” he shares.

Chakrabarty also explained his reason for leaving DDB Mudra. He said, “Social Quotient has been on for some time and it needs more of my attention.”
