Rajan Kapur's death is a huge loss to the industry, Ogilvy and WPP. Ranjan was a man with a childlike enthusiasm. He made everything sparkle.
I had the privilege to be hired by him in 1982. I also had the opportunity to work closely with him 1994 onwards. In fact, it was his desire to make Ogilvy the biggest agency at the back of great creative work. Fortunately for me, he chose me to be his partner in that journey. We had a wonderful time working together as a team.
Ranjan backed me, encouraged me and motivated me. And, his personality was such that as the captain of the team, he was wonderful to everyone on the team irrespective of who you were. That personality trait of his helped us all become whatever we are today.
I have to say that Rest in Peace my friend, Ranjan. You were my friend, philosopher and guide.
Ogilvy salutes you.
