Publicis launches Red Lion in India; Elsie Nanji to head unit

Publicis Network has announced the launch Red Lion, a brand design leadership agency. Elsie Nanji will be the Managing Partner of this unit. Nakul Chopra, MD and CEO, Publicis Network, India, said, “In Elsie, we have arguably one of India’s best designers. Red Lion will provide Publicis the opportunity to better meet clients needs, while also opening newer avenues of growth for us. I have no doubt that Red Lion will have impact in the very near term with Elsie’s stewardship.”

Nanji has been the creative name behind Ambience Publicis and is one of the best creative minds in the country. On her new role, she said, “I felt that the time had come for me to venture into something I have never done before. I have always been interested in design and with Red Lion, I am all set to wear a new cap.”

An official communiqué quoted: “Red Lion will be positioned, not just as a brand consulting agency that actually does packaging and designing, but will also as a unit that understands how brands work for organisations and not just for products.”

Red Lion will also have a partner in Punit Jagasia. He stated, “We are not a design hotshop, nor do we pretend to be a brand consulting agency that actually does packaging or design work. We understand that brands work for organisations and not for products. A brand idea is what creates differentiation and is the first step to developing any brand is its core, which is determined by a whole set of factors. Our endeavour at Red Lion will be to define and design the brand by moulding its core in a way that reflects exactly what it is and what the various stakeholders want, but not at the cost of compromising its sanctity.”

Red Lion’s list of services will include brand strategy, nomenclature and verbal identity, corporate design, packaging design, digital branding, retail and environmental design, and print and publication work. Jagasia said, “Simplicity, creativity and innovation are Red Lion’s pillars, and are also some of the tools which Red Lion will apply to create sharp ideas, and give our clients the much-needed lead.”
