NEW: NDTV 24x7 makes it to the US from November 29, Canada launch by mid-December

The Prannoy Roy-promoted NDTV 24x7 is all set to venture into the US from November 29 through affiliate distribution partnership with America’s largest DTH service provider, DirecTV. The channel had launched in the UK as part of SKY TV’s News and Events basic programming on November 21.

Top channel officials revealed to exchange4media that NDTV 24x7 would also be available in Canada from mid-December. Some time back, the channel had declared that it had tied up with Asian Television Network International Ltd (ATN) for its proposed Canada launch.

“We are very pleased to partner with both SKY and DirecTV, the largest DTH players in the UK and the US. There has been a constant demand for NDTV 24x7 from the many Indians living there, who, in fact, are the largest single group accessing our website, www.ndtv.com. We hope that 24x7 will be an important source of information for American and British viewers and fill a gap in these markets for high quality, English-language news on India,” said Prannoy Roy, Chairman, NDTV.

With these tie-ups, NDTV’s presence will now extend to all the key regions across the world – the Middle East, Europe, South Africa, the UK and now the US.

Aaron McNally, Vice-President, DirecTV International, said, “DirecTV is responding to the rapid growth of the South Asian community in the US by delivering a robust line-up of programming that is relevant to their culture. NDTV 24X7 is the top English-language news channel in India and we are delighted to partner with it to provide our South Asian customers with even more compelling and innovative programming,” McNally added.

NDTV had recently announced its intention to launch a general entertainment channel in India.
