NEWLintas Personal forays into new areas, appoints Suprio Guha Thakurta as President

It has been busy times for Lintas Personal. Immediately after the decision of C D Mitra, who was heading the division, to move on from the agency, Lintas has given the new post to old hand Suprio Guha Thakurta, who has been appointed as President, Lintas Personal. Thakurta’s appointment comes in the wake of the agency’s decision to expand into newer areas of business.
Lintas Personal, as is known, is the direct marketing and customer relationship management (CRM) division of Lintas India’s Integrated Marketing Action Group (IMAG). Ashish Bhasin, Director, IMAG, Lintas India informed that after gaining ground in the direct marketing and CRM departments, the agency is now looking at unexplored areas like web development business and call centres.
Bhasin said, “There are over a 100 websites launching a year now. And not just call centres but activities related to it like Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Processing Outsourcing (KPO), too, have immense potential today, which is highly untapped. We will be looking at only high end products here and so the value is high too. The idea is to develop these into an active revenue stream.”
Commenting on Guha Thakurta’s new role, Bhasin said, “A lot of the growth we have seen in the last year has been driven by Suprio, so he’s a natural choice for us. Lintas Personal has gone well beyond its brief and Suprio’s responsibility is to now strengthen us in these new areas as well.”
He further added, “Suprio, with his experience in advertising, software and direct marketing, is well equipped to drive the new expansion. Lintas Personal has won nine new clients and assignments over the last one year and has expanded its network nationwide. Their next challenge is to establish a footprint that services markets the US and Europe, and I am sure Suprio will achieve that.”
Guha Thakurta is an engineer by training and an MBA from XLRI. After a successful career in advertising, he ran a software firm and then joined Lintas Personal two years ago as the Western Region Head.
Lintas IMAG comprises Linterland (Rural Marketing), dCell (Strategic Design), Lin Opinion (PR), Advent (Events), Lintas Personal (CRM and Direct Marketing), Aaren Initiative (Out-of-Home), Lintertainment (Entertainment Marketing), and Lintas Healthcare. The Group believes that no communication can be complete without a through-the-line solution.
