MAA Bozell strengthens its foothold in the south with key appointments

MAA Bozell, a part of the MAA Group, has recently made some key appointments to beef up its South Zone offices. While Mala James has been appointed as Consultant-Vice-president, Anand Narayan joins as Branch Manager, Bangalore. Jacob Thomas has been brought in as Head, Kerala operations.

James is an innovative advertising professional to the core. She began her career with MAA Communications back in 1990 and later moved on to work with agencies such as O&M, Grey Worldwide, Lintas and British Tourist Authority. She has a rich and varied experience in working on reputed brands such as TTK, Titan, Seagrams, MTR Foods, Arrow Shirt and Britannia Industries. James has over 16 years’ experience, and as a Consultant-Vice-president, she brings to MAA Bozell seasoned knowledge in branding, strategy development, positioning and execution.

Prior to joining MAA, Narayan has worked with TBWA and Lowe in Chennai, Asha Euro RSCG in the Middle East, Mudra and Lowe in Bangalore. He has handled brands such as Malayala Manorama, Pondicherry Tourism, RPG Cellular, Nutrine Sweets, McDowells and Britannia. He brings to MAA expertise and entrepreneurial skills. Narayan’s primary role as Branch Manager would be to put people and processes in place and clearly position the company in the marketplace.

P Ravindranath who is a Director of the Company heads MAA Bozell’s Kerala office up. To reinforce the infrastructure further Jacob Thomas has been assigned the post of Head – Kerala Operations, reporting to P Ravindranath.

Thomas has more than 18 years’ advertising experience in account management, brand management and sales management. He began his career in advertising with FCB Ulka, Mumbai. During his career, Thomas has worked with international organisations like Gulf News, Imagenet Worldwide and Draft Worldwide, Dubai as VP-Overseas Exposures. Back in India and before joining MAA, he was Professor and HOD (Marketing and Advertising) at the School of Communication and Management Studies, Cochin. He will be reporting to P Ravindranath, who is a Director of the company and heads MAA Bozell’s Kerala branch.

Thomas has been involved with some of the leading brands such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Skoda Automobiles, Varkey Groups, Polaroid, Healthnet (Emirates Bank), Goodlass Nerolac Paints Ltd, Wipro Lighting and Indian Rayons Industries Ltd. He was instrumental in Wipro Lighting winning the IAA awards as the best TV commercial in its category in 1992.

The appointment of these three top executives is a manifestation of MAA Bozell’s endeavour to strengthen its foothold and consolidate its leadership in South India. The agency is in the process of consolidating its team and is all set for exponential growth.
