JWT adds Mexican fast food brand Taco Bell to its kitty

JWT has won the creative duties of Taco Bell following a multi-agency pitch. US-based Yum! Restaurants International, owners of the Pizza Hut and KFC brands, is launching the Mexican fast food brand to India in mid-2008. Taco Bell is a Mexican-style quick service restaurant chain serving tacos, burritos, nachos and other specialty items.

Rohit Ohri, Senior VP and Managing Partner, JWT, said, “We are delighted to partner Taco Bell in India. Mexican food, because of its spiciness, has great potential in India. We pitched with a complete 360-degree communication plan for the brand. I guess it was the clarity of our thinking and quality of our work that won us the business.”

Yum! Restaurants owns five brands – All American Food, KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver and Taco Bell. In Asia, Taco Bell is present only in the Philippines and Singapore.

JWT handles the creative duties of Pizza Hut, while Ogilvy is the custodian of the KFC brand.
