Iris given lead creative role for Adidas’ Global Running work

Iris has been given the lead creative role on Adidas’ Global Running work effective immediately. The new assignment will see Iris handling strategy, advertising, retail and experiential communications activities for Adidas, which will also cover India.

Iris India was appointed as Adidas’ retail marketing partner in June. Iris already works with Adidas on its retail campaigns for the category and will continue to do so, but this move sees the two organisations extend their relationship significantly.

Shaun McIlrath, Joint Executive Creative Director of Iris Worldwide, said, “This appointment signals our emergence as a global creative force. As an agency, we admire Adidas and share a common view of the world. So, we are delighted to be given the honour of leading such an important category.”

Simon Humphries, Client Services Director, Iris, said, “Adidas is currently the fastest growing running brand in the world and it has an awesome range of products in the wings for 2009 and beyond. We believe that great brands and products deserve great communications solutions, so it is a very exciting time for us to be extending our working relationship.”

Work on the 2009 campaign will be led out of London by McIlrath and Grant Hunter, Creative Director of Iris London, and will begin immediately. Meanwhile, 180 Amsterdam remains Adidas’ lead creative agency across the Sports Performance business.
