India@Cannes: Metal tally hits 16 Lions; Films & Integrated awaited

The Times of India party at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2010 saw the Indian team celebrating 16 Lions. This was coupled with some discussions on what the Films and Integrated Lions categories would bring for India. Last year, the metal tally was double this by this time, but given the way the festival began, the 16 number too is looking good.

Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT, was seen in some sessions today, and exchange4media spent some time asking him about RMG that has won a Gold in the Press Lions category. The Quasar team – Manish Vij and Sandeep Singh – is here as well, and has been the only vocal members on India not managing even a shortlist at Cyber Lions.

The Indian camp was proud of Colvyn Harris, Agnello Dias & Paddy, and Nakul Chopra getting on the Cannes Lions stage to get their agency’s Golds.

India was also discussed in one of the most high-profile sessions – Mark Zuckerberg, when he was talking about the Facebook story, and that India was one of the more interesting markets for Facebook.

The day ahead is simpler, but all eyes are now on the Films category and also the Integrated Lions category. Aman Ki Asha is being watched closely, as many expectations are pinned on the work to score at the Lions.
