Impactful Independence Day campaigns that stood out

India will celebrate its 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday. And as the nation preps up to ring in this significant day, brands are capitalising on the patriotism fervour. Each year, they get all creative and roll out campaigns that could tug at even the most cynical of heartstrings. From a humorous take on promotion-led ads during Independence Day to memoirs of those who fought for our freedom, this year, brands have adopted some interesting angles. Here’s a look at some of them:

BookMyShow

BookMyShow, being the platform for millions of users across the country to book tickets for their various entertainment needs, has released a humorous take on a plethora of discounts and promotion led advertisements that usually release around the Independence Day. While consumers are usually flooded with offer advertisements during holidays and the festive season, the brand went for a light-hearted take on the situation with their latest film

Arré

Digital platform Arré has collaborated with Pakistan’s digital entertainment brand Teeli to co-produce, co-write, and co-create the first digital short film shot across Delhi and Karachi, to celebrate Independence Day for India on August 15 and for Pakistan, on August 14. The short film explores the possibility of a personal relationship between young people in these two countries and tries to ask the question: What would happen if one of us got a chance to befriend someone across the border? Would the countries’ political and social history come in the way?

Cleartrip

The brand is basking in this day by publishing five stories from various travel writers and influencers that offer unique perspectives to travelling solo. Cleartrip is hosting its first ever AMA on Twitter on August 15, 2018, and they're inviting users to ask them questions about travel, and specifically solo travel, which a panel of writers will answer in real time.

Tata Tiscon

We all remember the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to bring us the freedom we enjoy. But what happened after we became an Independent nation? How did we transform ourselves from a third world poverty stricken country to an Asian superpower? It was all because of the vision and foundation laid by a few Indians, who took upon themselves to build a glorious nation. Tata Tiscon decided to pay homage to the real builders of the nation. So, an exhibition of portraits of nation builders was organised where people were asked to recognise them. Though a handful could recognise at best one among the six portraits, most of the participants couldn’t identify any. The experiment threw light upon the fact that though some of us at best remember their names, most of us can’t really identify their faces nor remember their contribution to the nation.
