ICC CWC’11:  Ad land gears up for India-Pak clash

Even as the entire nation is gearing up for the much anticipated WC Semi-Final showdown between India and Pakistan, India’s advertising fraternity, too, is not immune to all the excitement and has taken elaborate steps to enjoy all the action.

While scores of office-goers in India will be coming up with inventive reasons to stay away from work on March 30, the advertising fraternity is all set to enjoy all the action…

Subhash Kamath, Managing Partner, BBH India:
“Post 2 pm, it’s technically a half day at BBH. There will be no work post 2 pm. We have installed screens, wear original Nike Indian team T-Shirt, cheer for the team and do photo sessions. And depending on how the game goes, we shall celebrate with beer.”

KV ‘Pops’ Sridhar, NCD, Leo Burnett India:
“We are having a party post 2.00 pm. We have vacated our parking lot and installed a huge screen to watch the India-Pakistan match. And yes, we will have free beer all the time. There is no off, no half day, nothing at all. It’s a day for cricket at Leo Burnett India and all of us will be in office watching the match. Nobody will be allowed to leave before or during the match.”

Bobby Pawar, CCO, Mudra Group:

“It’s a proper half day at Mudra House. It’s going to be an interesting match and at Mudra, we believe everybody should do what they want to do, for instance, watch it with their friends or family. It’s a simple thing, do what you want, everybody is free post 1 pm. However, the ones who wish to stay in office and watch the match, there is no restriction on that as well. We have TV screens in the cafeteria and conference rooms on each floor. It’s an India-Pakistan match, enjoy the adrenaline rush!”

Ashish Khazanchi, NCD, Publicis Ambience:
“There will be no work post 1 pm. However, there is no restriction on time and people in the agency are free to do what they want. They could either go home or be in office and watch the match on the screen that we have installed. But it’s a sure thing, we have enough of beer in office and Vuvuzelas, too, so that we make enough noise and cheer for Team India.”

Sushant Panda, Managing Partner, Euro RSCG India:
“The foremost thing that is bothering us at Euro is we hope we have enough beer for the match. As far as work is concerned, it is understood that nobody should expect anybody to work. Post 1 pm, at Euro there shall be no work but only discussion of cricket.”
