The advertising industry has undergone significant changes in the past decade. Keeping the changing landscape of the industry in mind Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) is presenting a Conclave – ‘Preparing the profession for the new decade’ – on April 7, 2011, which will precede GoaFest 2011.
The GoaFest 2011 Advertising Conclave is a common ground for thought leaders to get together and discuss the larger issues of the industry. This year, the conclave will be led by Srinivasan K Swamy, Chairman and MD, RK Swamy BBDO.
The discussions at the Conclave will focus on the advertising practices in the new decade and cover four important dimensions. First session brings in advertisers’ perspective on the issues facing the agencies and what they should do to be more relevant in the coming years. The second session address what can be learnt from other service industries like media/ broadcasting, IT, consulting, auditing, telecom and interactive/ digital. This will help gain insights on how to increase competency, be more remunerative, attract and retain talent.
The third session will be on how some advertising companies have organised themselves for the new decade. This will be based on an in-depth research done by IMRB on how ‘future-ready’ the agencies are with respect to agency structure, skills enhancement, new talent acquisition, etc. The last session will address the issues of improving remuneration, developing competitiveness, looking for a new cost effective agency model, etc.
The Conclave has an array of senior professionals that will ensure a stimulating, insightful and valuable discussions starting at 3 pm and ending at about 8 pm.
The Conclave, which is presented by Discovery Channel, will also see the ASCI Ambassadors Event, where senior professionals from advertisers, agencies and media will take a pledge to create advertising that is honest, truthful, decent, fair, promotes safety, does not exploit weaker sections of society and children, etc.
Session One: Are agencies ready for the new decade?
Opening remarks by would be made by Srinivasan K Swamy, Chairman, GoaFest 2011 Advertising Conclave. The speakers in this session include Rajiv Dube, Director, Group Corporate Services and Director, Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt Ltd and Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer, Maruti Udyog.
Session Two: What can we learn from other service industries?
This session will be chaired by Nagesh Alai, President, AAAI, while the speakers include Farokh Balsara, Partner and National Leader, Media & Entertainment, E&Y; Sanjay Behl, CEO, DTH and IPTV and President - Brand & Marketing at Reliance, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group; Arun Tadanki, CEO, Yahoo! India; and Thomas Simon, Vice President, Tata Consultancy Services.
Session Three: How have some Advertising Companies organised themselves for the new decade?
Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT is the session chairman, which will feature a presentation from IMRB after conducting in-depth interviews with senior industry leaders.
Session Four: Where is the upside in this profession?
Moderator for this session is Sam Balsara, CMD, Madison World, while the speakers include R Balki, Chairman and NCD, Lowe India; Arvind Sharma, Chairman & CEO, Leo Burnett; and Ashish Bhasin, Chairman, Carat Media Services.
Session Six: Summary and closing remarks by Lynn de Souza, Chairperson, GoaFest Committee. This will be followed by the ASCI Ambassadors Event.
