Father’s Day: 'Dad'vertisements that have hit the right spot

Father's Day is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution and influence of fathers and father figures on their children and the society. Many countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June. This year it falls on June 17.

Every Father’s Day, brands roll out reams of ad campaigns hoping to tap into paternal pathos and entice them towards their offerings. This year too was no different. From Future Generali Life Insurance to Mankind Pharma, brands have touched on topics like importance of good health for a blessed family life, prioritizing spending time with fathers and rolled out some thoughtful and touching communication. Here are our top four picks…

Future Generali India Life Insurance and Momspresso

Seizing the occasion of Father’s Day, Future Generali India Life Insurance along with Momspresso has unveiled its new digital campaign #AapkiHealthMereLiye urging fathers to recognize the need to stay healthy by making a sincere ‘Health Promise’ to their children. Despite being the ultimate caregiver, fathers often tend to overlook their own health. In a heart-warming ad film, a little girl is seen frantically rummaging about in her father’s room while struggling to decide what would make for an ideal Father’s Day present for him beyond the obvious possessions that her dad already has (such as ties, belts, shoes) but doesn’t use. Noticing an abandoned set of dumbbells under the bed she retorts that her dad has everything at his disposal, but never the time to spare for exercise or even go cycling with her. On the final morning she excitedly greets her father with a handmade card that seeks from him a Health Promise - a promise of his health for her reassurance.

Father’s Day is one occasion when we can mirror on how significant an impact is delivered upon our lives by our fathers. Being away from their families for a long time can be a very emotional experience for any father. This video by Muthoot Fincorp Limited, flagship company of Muthoot Pappachan Group mirrors that and will effectively tug the heartstrings of viewers.

Kalyan Jewellers

Kalyan Jewellers has kick-started its Father’s Day campaign with an interesting video chat between Amitabh Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan. The video story captures a candid conversation between the two where Shweta speaks about her happiness in spending a day with her father, while Big B reveals an anecdotal story from when his daughter was a toddler. Using this video as the launch pad to their Father’s Day campaign, Kalyan Jewellers has partnered with social media influencers from around the country, to take this conversation further. The idea is involve a larger audience and get them to speak about the #AlwaysWalaLove that they share with their father. The brand is also running a contest on the lines of their #AlwaysWalaLove campaign wherein the brand has urged its customers and followers to share their father-child story and stand a chance to win exclusive gifts from Kalyan Jewellers.

Mankind Pharma & ADK Fortune

Preganews has launched a new campaign #QuitBeforeYouStart specifically targeted at couples planning a family. The toll of young smokers in India and the world over is increasing swiftly. Usually women stop smoking before they start planning a baby. But in the case of men, it is very rare that they quit. Through the study done by National Health Society, United Kingdom, it is observed that men who continue smoking while planning a family, run the risk of damaging the DNA of the foetus permanently. Highlighting this issue, the campaign urges the ‘would be fathers’ to quit smoking before they start planning a family.
