Dentsu plans to ‘WWWOW’ with new dedicated unit for mobile creatives

After launching three specialist mobile agencies – Softcell, Incelligence and Mobimost – a couple of weeks ago, Dentsu Digital on May 18, announced the launch of WWWOW, a new dedicated unit specialising in mobile design and applications. WWWOW would support the design of mobile communications, especially on WAP.

A new head for WWWOW will be named soon. The unit will have a good mix of technical and design savvy professionals who understand both the challenges and the opportunities in the emerging mobile space.

Commenting on the new unit, Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Dentsu India, said, “WWWOW will be a subset of our design agency ‘iki’. We are doing a lot of work in Symbian, Flashlite and J2ME, and there will be a dedicated team specialising in mobile advergaming.”

Goyal further said, “The unit will be based in Delhi and will service requirements across Incelligence, Mobimost and Softcell, our three specialist mobile agencies. It is important to understand that creative in this medium cannot be broad-brushed as just ‘digital’, as the Internet and mobile have very different rendering requirements. This itself leads to very different design and usability perspectives. At WWWOW, we wish to create expertise and knowledge that leads the industry in this emerging medium.”

The Dentsu Digital team is headed by Krishna Prasad, Director, Dentsu Digital. Gaurav Luthra, Head – Content; Akifumi Miyahara, Executive Vice-President – Media and Digital Development; and Yutaka Kamoshita, Vice President, Dentsu Digital, comprise the agency top brass. All of them report to Rajesh Aggarwal, President, Dentsu India.

Senior industry professionals Imran Khan, Rajat Mathur, Yogesh Puri and Anand Rajvanshi have come on board in recent weeks to strengthen the team.
