Cochin Ad Club’s creative awards ‘Pepper 2007’ to be held on May 11

The Advertising Club of Cochin is all set for the annual creative awards ceremony on May 11 this year. The creative award function, which has been an annual feature of the Advertising Club of Cochin, is inviting entries from all over South India for the first time. Hitherto, the entries were restricted to Kerala alone. The awards, which will to be known as ‘Pepper 2007’, will reward creativity for different categories such as multimedia campaign, press campaign, retail advertising, television, radio, outdoor, POPs and photography.

Venugopal, President, Cochin Ad Club, said, “The Cochin Ad Club has been organising this award since 1994. This year, it has decided to open the doors for the entire South India to bring in more challenging ideas and concepts to the creative fraternity of Kerala.”

“The ad club is planning to take the Pepper Creative Awards on a national level next year,” he said, adding that the awards and certificates will be given to each winning entry.

The agency with the maximum number of points will be presented with “Agency of the Year’ award. “If the jury finds an entry exceptional in terms of copywriting, photography or art direction, that entry will be presented with a Special Award (gold, silver, bronze or a certificate),” Venugopal said.

The jury for ‘Pepper 2007’ consists of Josy Paul, National Creative Director, JWT; Pathap Suthan, National Creative Director, Grey Worldwide; Raj Nair, Associate Vice President-Creative, Contract Advertising; and Ramesh Narayan, CEO, Canco Advertising.

“Only those works released between January 1 and December 31, 2006, will be considered,” Venugopal said. The award ceremony will be held at Boghatty Palace in Cochin and the last date for the submission of entries is April 23.

For the record, the Cochin Ad Club has 400 members belonging to all the national and regional agencies, publications, channels and industry associates. The club also runs an institute for a one-year diploma course in advertising, media planning, creativity and copywriting.
