Bharti AXA GI appoints Deepak Iyer as CEO and MD

Bharti AXA General Insurance (GI) Company Ltd has announced the appointment of Deepak Iyer (currently the Managing Director – Indian subcontinent at Wrigley India Pvt Ltd subsidiary of Mars Inc) as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Deepak is expected to come on board by end June 2015 and will take charge from Milind Chalisgaonkar, Interim CEO and MD after receipt of regulatory approvals by the company.

Deepak brings with him 22 years of diverse experience across various aspects of management, sales, marketing, P & L management, operational turnaround, research and development and franchise management across different countries. Prior to his association with Wrigley, he has worked with PepsiCo Inc for 16 years handling multiple international assignments including holding the posts of Senior Franchise Director – Africa, General Manager – North & East India (including Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka) and Director – Sales for Modern Trade/ Foodservice/ Leisure/ Travel & Transport channels of the company.

Commenting on the appointment, Gaelle Olivier, CEO, General Insurance, AXA Asia, said, “I am very pleased to welcome on board Deepak as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bharti AXA General Insurance. This appointment comes at a great time for the company, with AXA reaffirming its commitment to the Indian market, following the changes in the foreign direct investment ordinance.

She further said, “I would like to extend my gratitude to Milind for taking on the role of interim CEO and MD since September 2014 and steering Bharti AXA GI towards its successful development in the industry.  He has been a strong asset to Bharti AXA GI and to AXA Asia during his tenure.”
