Beehive bags creative duties of travel portal Cleartrip.com

With more and more people turning to the Internet to plan their travel itinerary, Cleartrip.com, an online booking portal, has decided to further consolidate its position. To begin with, the portal has assigned its creative duties to Beehive Communication. Though officials are tightlipped about the account size, industry sources peg the business in excess of Rs 15 crore.

At present, Cleartrip has no media agency. Noel Swain, VP-Marketing, Cleartrip.com, informed exchange4media that at present Clearetrip.com was working directly with media houses, print and broadcast.

When asked whether other agencies were in the fray for the creative pitch, Swain said, “We had considered other agencies and freelance professionals for the business, but in regards to creative, Beehive fitted the bill.” When asked about the account size, Swain said, “The account size is not fixed, however, Cleartrip will spend whatever it takes to manage four lakh transactions a year.”

Needless to say, the agency is excited about the new win. Himanshu Thakkar, Executive Director, Beehive, who has driven the business from the word go, said, “We believe that online booking is increasingly gaining more ground. We are very excited with this win, with the Cleartrip business model itself that has a clear cut focus on the core business of delivering value to travel customers.”

He further said, “They are a great team to work with and they allow us a huge bandwidth in terms of ideas. We are having a wonderful time working on this business.”

Cleartrip.com also means a well rounded experience in the domain for Beehive. The agency has a destination client in the form of Tourism Malaysia and the likes of Star Cruises and Rail Europe. For Thakkar there is certain completeness for the agency with this new win.
