Bates Enterprise and David merger final; new entity likely to be called Bates David Enterprise

The Bates Enterprise and David merger is more or less tied up and a formal announcement is expected in the next few days, sources close to the development inform. Talks are on between the two agencies to thrash out the modalities at the organizational level as well as roles and designations of senior hands. It is also learnt that the new entity is most likely to be christened Bates David Enterprise.

Officials at Bates Enterprise and David refused to comment when contacted, stating that talks were still on. However, a news report that appeared in Hong Kong-based Media’s website (www.media.com.hk) has carried a report headlined ‘Bates and David merge in India’, which stated: “Bates Asia President Jeffrey Yu has confirmed the merger of Indian agencies Bates Enterprise and David India to create Bates David Enterprise.”

As reported by exchange4media earlier, the merger talks had been on for quite some time. The reason cited for the merger is said to be that it made better business sense to have either a large agency or a boutique agency than having several mid-size ones.

It may be recalled that in September last year, Bates Asia had agreed to acquire, subject to regulatory approvals, a majority stake in Enterprise Nexus Communications Pvt Ltd and the merged entity was called Bates Enterprise.
