Bates 141 in search mode; on the lookout for NCD, ECD and Mumbai Brand Head

Bates 141 is in restructuring mode again for its top management with some new appointments. Following the constitution of its new Executive Committee and beefing up its creative team in Delhi, Sonal Dabral, Regional Executive Creative Director, Asia Pacific & Chairman-India, Bates 141, along with Sandeep Pathak, CEO, Bates 141 India, are on the lookout for filling up three top posts at the agency.

On post is that of Executive Creative Director, a post that was formerly held by Rajeev Raja. Second post is that of Mumbai Branch Head, which was held by Sandeep Pathak prior to his elevation as CEO. Dabral and Pathak informed exchange4media that besides filling up these two posts, they were also very aggressively looking for a very strong creative partner in the form of a National Creative Director.

For years now, Bates 141 India had been operating with an Executive Creative Director. Commenting on the need for a National Creative Director, Dabral explained, “We could work on two models – either have ECDs in each of our offices, with me heading the creative operations, as ideally I am a creative person. However, my responsibilities are not limited to India alone. I also happen to have the responsibility for the Asia region. So, I guess the other model is that of appointing an NCD. I am looking the NCD as a very strong partner to me along with bringing his/her own philosophies to the agency table.”

The agency is yet to identify its perfect match. Stating that they were ready to wait till they got the right person, Pathak said, “We are looking at the right person for all the roles. Though there is urgency in filling up these posts, at the same time we are also very cautious because if the shoe gets the wrong feet, one might get a corn!”

Dabral added here, “We have been spending most of the evenings with head hunters looking for the right match.”

Bates 141 Delhi had recently strengthened its top team with three key appointments. Jayanto Banerjee has joined Bates 141 as Executive Vice President, while Suchitra Gahlot and Nitin Suri have come on board as ECD, Bates 141.
