Ad Club Madras invites entries for Tamizh Awards

Advertising Club Madras is gearing up for the second edition of Tamizh Awards. The first edition of the Awards, which was held in October 2008, was a resounding success with overwhelming participation from agencies and advertisers across Tamil Nadu.

R Seshadri, President, Advertising Club Madras, said, “We propose to hold the second edition of the Tamizh Advertising Awards on March 19, 2010 in Chennai. The ground work for the Awards has already started. We started the communication for the same from January 28, 2010.”

This year, the Club is planning to hold the Awards Nite on a grand scale. Three jury members confirmed so far include Ramanujam Sridhar, CEO, Brandcomm; Thomas Xavier, CMD, Orchard (both were jury members last year as well); and Srinivasan, MD, Vikatan Group.

Tamil daily Daily Thanthi, which had sponsored last year’s Awards, continues to be the title sponsor this year as well, while Ananda Vikatan would be the support sponsor. OOH Media will be the outdoor partner. “We are awaiting confirmation from a few other sponsors who had supported the event last time,” Seshadri added.

The Club is planning to award international work targeted at the global Tamizh consumer this year. “We are planning to attract entries from other countries with Tamil speaking population through networked agencies. We are hopeful of getting participation from them,” Seshadri said. According him, the scale of the event would be similar to last year, “but we are working towards improving the quality of the event this year”.

The Club is inviting entries across 27 categories for Tamizh Awards 2010. In the first edition of Tamizh Awards, O&M Chennai had bagged the maximum metals, closely followed by JWT Chennai.
