Brands launch social media campaigns to remind citizens to cast vote
With the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Elections just around the corner, various brands have stepped up their civic role by launching campaigns to remind the citizens in Karnataka to vote
The Karnataka Legislative Assembly Elections 2018 is scheduled to be held across the state on May 12. The election campaigns by the contestants and political parties witnessed debates, promises, and accusations. The contestants resorted to different media and methods to promote their candidature, from pamphlets to newspapers, to television channels and social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, were all used for the campaigning process.
No election can be complete without people’s participation in it, the right to cast vote is just not the legal right of citizens but responsibility too.
Different brands came up with campaigns in social media reminding citizens to cast their valuable vote without fail. Here are is a look at some of campaigns:
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has come up with an innovative campaign to remind the citizens to cast their votes in the legislative assembly election.
KMF, the second largest milk co-operative in India sells milk and milk products under the brand name Nandini. The milk packets have been printed with reminders saying, ‘Vote without fail on May 12’.
The KMF’s milk products are consumed by both rural and urban population in Karnataka and Nandini is one of the most popular milk and milk products brand in Karnataka. They have rightly seized the opportunity to remind the citizen to cast their valuable votes.
The online bus ticket and hotel booking app have published an advertisement in the newspaper. The advertisement says, ‘for once our app is not where you should click’. redBus makes a gentle reminder of the election day and asking the people to stay back in Karnataka on the election day.
Stoned Monkey ice cream store has come up with offers for the ice cream loving citizens. The seven stores in Bangalore have buy an ice cream and get a sandwich free offer, but citizens who have cast their votes can only avail this offer.
As the caption of their social media post says, ‘VOTE MADI, OFFER PADIRI’. Show us your finger marked with ink and avail the offer in all branches. The offer is valid only on 13th May and only walk-in customers can avail the offers.

The very famous Rasta Café in Bangalore- Mysore Highway has posted on their Instagram page reminding to cast vote. The post says ‘Vote against prejudice. Let the democracy bring out the best in us.
The Café is closed from 10th May to 12th May and 15th May due to elections. The post also says that ‘we are closed due to elections and we are all out for votes’.
