MediaCom wins media business

MediaCom has won the Rs 30 crore media business following a multi-agency pitch. The business moves from Starcom Worldwide, which had been handling it for the last five years.

In a press statement, Mohit Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, Offline Marketing, said, “After a successful 2010 when MakeMyTrip established its leadership position in India, we are now embarking on an ambitious growth plan for 2011. We aim to focus on our communication strategy as part of our aggressive marketing plans. MediaCom as an agency has displayed great caliber and holds promise in successfully executing our communication strategy. We are glad to be associated with them and are looking forward to a fruitful relationship.”

Debraj Tripathy, COO, MediaCom India, said on the win, “We are thrilled to begin our association with The opportunity to use our skills, to help MMT further their brand and business is immense and we are looking forward to the challenge”.

Vinish Joshi, General Manager, MediaCom Delhi led the pitch.

MakeMyTrip is an online travel agency (OTA) and also the only OTA from India to have listed on the NASDAQ.

MediaCom India also manages other blue chip businesses like Procter and Gamble, Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Dell, Shell, Wrigley and Aegon Religare among others.
