Loksatta’s Kumar Ketkar joins Bhaskar Group

To handle the Marathi language venture of Dainik Bhaskar, group has appointed Kumar Ketkar as a Chief Editor of Dainik Divya Marathi. Kumar Ketkar has moved in from Loksatta.

It can be recalled that on 3rd February, 2011, the Dainik Bhaskar Group had informed the Bombay Stock Exchange about its plan to enter in Maharashtra in the Marathi language newspaper domain. Ketkar will be looking after this entire project of Dainik Bhaskar. Speaking on this development, Ketkar noted, “We are going to launch multiple editions in Maharashtra soon. The first edition of the newspaper will be from Aurangabad.”

The final decision on future strategies to enter Maharastra in Marathi language domain will be taken in the board meetings which are going to take place from 14 to 16 March, 2011. Ketkar noted that because of the several competitors in this domain, this project is going to be interesting and challenging for him.

Ketkar is active in journalism for last 40 years. He had started his journalistic career with Economics Times as a Staff Reported. Prior to Loksatta, he has worked with The Observer, Maharashtra Times also. Ketkar has also got the prestigious Padma Shri award for his journalistic work.
