De-monetisation pushes Pro Wrestling League 2 to January 2017

Demonetisation has started to rear its ugly head in sports as well with the second edition of Pro Wrestling League (PWL) being pushed to January 2, 2017 from its original scheduled start of December 15, 2016 due to challenges faced by stakeholders and franchises. 

 

Vishal Gurnani, Director of Pro Sportify shares, “Keeping in mind demonetisation challenges faced by stakeholders, franchises, wrestlers’ availability and schedule as per the international wrestling calendar, Pro Wrestling League has been postponed to January 2. “

“Due to demonetisation, franchises and stakeholders have asked for some time to realign their plans.” Added Gurnani

The second season of PWL will see the involvement of six teams.

The ad rates for this edition, scheduled to air on Sony Pictures Network, have also shot up from Rs35,000 to Rs 55,000 for 10 second ad spot. Gurnani mentions, “We are increasing the spot prices. In the previous edition we sold it at Rs 35,000 while this year we are selling it at Rs 55,000 for 10 seconds. After cricket this is the only sport that commands such high price.”
