Madison Media has won the media duties of General Motors. The auto major had put its media business under review almost five months back. The account size is in the region of Rs 50 crore upwards and the incumbent on the business is Universal McCann.
Even though the names of the agencies couldn’t be ascertained, GM officials informed that as many as 10 media agencies were in the fray apart from the incumbent.
Confirming the development, GM’s Anisha Motwani said, “The agencies have gone through a rigorous pitch process and Madison has scored on every count.” The agency begins servicing the new business in a week’s time. For Madison, this is big news as the win comes close in the heels of the Hyundai business moving out of the agency.
According to industry sources, the agencies in the fray included the likes of Starcom, Zenith, Carat, Maxus and Optimum Media Solutions. A reason why the pitch was called in the first place was the expiry of the three-year contract GM had with Universal McCann.
It may be recalled that GM’s creative business is also under review at present and sources said that the decision on the same would be taken next month. The incumbent on this side of the business is Enterprise Nexus.
General Motors India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corp, has Chevrolet Tavera, sedans Chevrolet Optra and Opel Corsa in its stable in the Indian market. It also sells the imported Opel Vectra and Chevrolet Forester.
