Currently in its fourth season, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) was one of the first reality/ game shows on Indian television when it was first launched in 2000. Amitabh Bachchan was roped in to host the first season, which was telecast on Star Plus.
The next two seasons were also telecast on Star Plus and were hosted by Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, respectively. The fourth and the latest season of KBC is being aired on Sony Entertainment Television.
The fourth season was launched on October 11, 2010, which was also the birthday of host Bachchan. The first set of ratings has been released by TAM and the latest season of the game show has opened with 5.3 TVR across the three HSM Metros (C&S, 4+).
In comparison, the third season had opened with a rating of 11.3 TVR in the same markets, while the second season had opened with a rating of 18.5 TVR and 11.1 TVR in the first season. The universe size has been continuously increasing from 17,216 in the first season to 22,456 in the second season to 36,066 in the third and 45,388 for the current season.
