Pratap Bose, COO, DDB Mudra Group has been elected as the new President of Ad Club. He takes the mantle from Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar UM.
Bose officially took charge of his new role post the AGM yesterday afternoon.
Sinha’s tenure as President began in 2011, a position he took over from Bhaskar Das, who is now with Essel Group.
The new committee comprises an interesting mix of representatives from marketing, media and digital domains. The office bearers include Ajay Kakar of Aditya Birla Group (Vice President), Raj Nayak of Colours (Secretary), Ajay Chandwani of Percept (Joint Secretary), Umesh Shrikhande of Taproot India (Treasurer). Sunil Lulla of Times Television Network and Prashanth MohanaChandran of AgencyDigi are co-opted members.
The Managing Committee members include Rohit Ohri of Dentsu India Group, Harit Nagpal of Tata Sky, Das of Essel Group, Ravi Rao of Mindshare, Josy Paul of BBDO India, Kunal Jeswani of OgilvyOne, Punitha Arumugam of Google India, and Sinha, the Immediate Past President.
“Perception-wise, the Ad Club has always been seen as purveyor of ad shows. I want to break this perception; we are a non-profit organisation that recognises the best in the industry and yes, we have our flagship events. The focus for me is giving back to the communication industry as a whole, and making Ad Club a much more inclusive part of the community. My top priority will be to make the CEP (Continuing Education Programme) in Ad Club active once again,” said Bose, sharing his vision for Ad Club.
This new role also comes with the baggage of the storm of controversies that shrouded Goafest this year. “At the end of the day, if you have very strong processes, which are well articulated among all stake holders with clarity, argued, debated and then accepted, there should be no problem,” observed Bose, who aims to build stickiness and equity for Ad Club with the communication business at large in his new role by way of continued dialogue and initiatives.
The new committee aspires to make Ad club more vibrant, credible, and participative, and shake off the negativity with a renewed vigour.
“I am really happy the existing committee members have reposed their faith in me. Shashi has done a terrific job, with the support of all the senior members. It is never about an individual, but the collective power and strength that all of us bring to the table is what makes us a powerful team,” concluded Bose.
