Genus Electorincs, which recently announced its foray into the mobile phones segment, has begun its hunt for a media agency.
Confirming the development to exchange4media, Mayank Kumar, COO, Genus Mobiles, said, “We have been into electronics manufacturing business for 15 years now. There are about 2 crore households who use our products. And since we are doing good, we thought of launching our own brand, and to begin with, we have ventured into the mobile phones domain.”
The initial round of discussions has already taken place with three to four mainline agencies. Kumar informed, “We are getting the idea, and based on the options they give, we will finalise one of the agencies and other details in the next couple of months. We will strategise from the point of view of mid-term and long-term budgets, finetune it and get into action.”
To begin with, Genus Mobiles is launching nine handset models. These would be priced between Rs 1,600 and Rs 5,000. These models will primarily be dual-SIM with music-based features. The type would be spanning across Qwerty, touch screen and multimedia. The launch of 3G and Adroid-based models are scheduled in the next couple of months.
