Zintec launches TV set-top box

Zintec Software has launched digital television set top box for the global home entertainment market. The set top box has the capacity to access 2,000 channels.

The set top box developed completely at Zintec's Hyderabad facility, is the first Indian product to obtain Irdeto DVT (decoder verification test) certification and meets world compliance standards.

According industry sources, Zintec's software plans to increase its total investments in India to $4 million from the present $2.5 million by end of 2003. Recently, the company entered into a tie-up with the VSNL through Novacom Digitronics. The deal involves an order for supply of set top boxes to the recently launched MAA TV from Andhra Pradesh.

Zintec Software is also the first Indian company to develop conditional access solution, which is a descrambling software for pay channels and also helps protect rights. The set top box has the capacity to access 2,000 channels. The cost ranges between $100 to $350 depending on the applications.
