Zee turns to ‘Johnnynomics’ to give its Budget presentation a lighter touch

Zee Network has taken the initiative to present the Union Budget in an interesting and entertaining way. For this purpose the Network has roped in comedian Johnny Lever. ‘Johnnynomics’, as the programme is titled, will be aired on Zee News and Zee Business between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm on February 28.

Lever will give his inimitable comic touch to the anchor driven one-hour programme on the Union Budget.

Explaining the reason behind coming up with this programme, Ravi Kant Mittal, Output-Head, Zee News, said, “Though very important, the Budget is always considered to be serious in nature. It is also very important for the general public to understand its nuances in an easy way. By roping in Johnny Lever we want to give the Budget a humorous angle. Johnny will be presenting the highlights of Budget in his own unique style.”

Commenting on his choice for Lever, Mittal, said, “Johnny Lever has been chosen as he is the leading humorist of Bollywood today.”

Zee is leaving no stones unturned to cash in on Lever’s talent. In order to strengthen the association of the Network with the actor, Zee TV had also signed on Lever for a series to be launched in March, informed Mittal.

Samir Ahluwalia, Editor, Zee Business, said that the budget had been presented in a simplified manner in order to make it comprehensible to the common man. He added that news also needed to be presented in an entertaining manner and that was why the channel had created 360-degree level entertainment around the Budget.
