Zee Studio to showcase world-class films with ‘Olive Collection’

Zee Studio and UTV-Palador have partnered together for a 360-degree initiative on world cinema called ‘Olive Collection’. Every Sunday, Zee Studio will feature some of the world’s finest movies under this collection.

Commenting on this new initiative, Neil Chakravarti, Business Head, Zee Studio, said, “As a channel committed to bringing quality cinema to Indian viewers, Zee Studio is proud to associate itself with Palador to showcase some of the best movies ever made .”

He added, “The Olive Collection is yet another offering that differentiates Zee Studio’s line-up. We also had a film festival comprising 10 movies as a run-up to the Oscars in 2006, with some of the choicest foreign film entries like ‘Fateless’ from Hungary, ‘Obaba’ from Spain, and ‘Sex and Philosophy’ from Tajikistan. Moreover, we recently premiered ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’ and are planning a television premiere of ‘City of God’ soon.”

Under the Olive Collection, Zee Studio will showcase some bestsellers and greatest cinema of all time from across the world. Some of the titles being shown at the exclusive screenings on Sunday afternoons at 3 pm include Japanese director Kurosawa’s classic action film ‘Seven Samurai’, which is believed to have inspired ‘Sholay’.

Other films include Robert Altman’s ‘Kansas City’, which is cinema noir in its purest form and ‘The Magical Gabbeh’ that has been directed by the prolific and brilliant Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
