Zee Sports goes all sporty for February; lot more tennis, football, cricket on offer

In a bid to stay true to its positioning of showcasing India and quality non-India cricket sporting events, Zee Sports has lined up tennis, football and cricket commentary for February 2006.

The tennis coverage on Zee sports will start with the Davis Cup, where India takes on Korea in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group I 2006, 1st round. Zee Sports, will bring all the action from Changwon Municipal Tennis Courts, Changwon live and exclusive from February 10-12. Zee Sports will also be telecasting World Group 2006 1st Round matches between Germany and France.

The second event in the tennis line-up will be the WTA tournaments as Zee Sports has the exclusive rights to WTA matches. Three WTA tournaments that would be telecast during February are from Paris, Dubai and Doha. Sania Mirza would be playing in all the three tournaments.

Elaborating on the line-up, Gaurav Seth, VP Marketing, Zee Sports, said, “Next, we also have the football matches with the Asia Cup Qualifiers match between India and Japan from Yokohama. Carrying on further, we will also telecast the tie between India and Yemen. To keep the India-Pakistan cricket match mood upbeat, we have roped in World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev and Ajay Jadeja to present Cricket Café. This is an innovative programming initiative from Zee Sports to present in-depth post match analysis of the five One Day Internationals between India and Pakistan. Cricket Café will present the news, views and analysis of each ODI.”

Seth added, “For our tennis coverage, we will be communicating with the media community more through dotcoms, and then there will be focused PR activity. However, we haven’t planned much above the line activity. We will be looking at tactical marketing for February.”
