Zee TV’s new reality show ‘Shabaash India’ will present the extraordinary feats of ordinary Indians. Starting from June 19, 2006, the show will be hosted by Hussain Kejriwala.
Ashvini Yardi, Programming Head, Zee TV, said, “Our country is full of talented people who have physical and mental abilities that would surprise anyone.” This show attempts to travel all over India and let these talented and courageous people display their unique abilities.
Yardi further said, “We started researching for this show almost two years ago and I did not think that there were so many extraordinary people whom we could feature on our show. I am sure that once this show starts, we will have more people who we can talk about.”
Though a number of channels are now focusing on reality-based programmes, Yardi insisted that ‘Shabaash India’ was unique because it was not a contest and did not force ordinary people to do unique acts, but captured their talents and dare-devil acts, which they might be doing everyday. “The show’s tag-line is ‘namumkin kuch nahi’ (Nothing is impossible) – it captures the spirit of people doing impossible and daring feats,” he added.
The show has been put together by Abhilash Bhattacharya and his team from Soft-Focus Productions.
According to Yardi, the core idea behind this show was to recognise even those people who might have not yet made a world record, but were definitely capable of making records. Yardi said, “Some of these people have created world records, while others are waiting for an opportunity. ‘Shabaash India’ provides a platform to such people to come forward and display their unusual abilities.”
