Zee News to telecast documentary on Bhagat Singh anchored by playwright Piyush Mishra

Zee News will present a documentary, ‘Ay Vatan Tere Liye’, on the life of Bhagat Singh, one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. The documentary will be telecast on the anniversary of Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom Thursday, March 23. Piyush Mishra, well-known playwright and an authority on Bhagat Singh, will anchor the programme.

The documentary would have cinematic elements from four films that have already been made on Bhagat Singh. It will have scenes from Lahore’s Central Jail where he was hanged. The programme would be done on a grand scale with Mishra anchoring it from the majestic background of Kotla Fort from where Bhagat Singh had formed his own party.

Zee News has been a thought leader when it comes to producing documentaries with political and social implications. Among recent initiatives, the channel had done a special programme tracing the mystery and secrecy surrounding the controversial death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a plane crash.

The documentary ‘Jinnah vs Jinnah’ attempted to expose the truth behind a man who has always evoked conflicting feelings amongst the people of India and Pakistan. The episode anchored by actor Irfan Khan, showed the implications of Jinnah and Winston Churchill’s secret talks and the real truth behind the politician’s life.

On November 19, 2005, on Indira Gandhi’s birthday, Zee News had done a 60-minute documentary on her life, tracing various milestones.
