Zee News, ITBP celebrate ‘Love for the Nation’

Zee News organised a musical extravaganza, ‘Love for the Nation’, for the third time on February 15, 2012 at the ITBP Khanpur training centre. The initiative, conceived in 2010, is a platform built by Zee News to express adoration for the motherland.

The concert is also a mark of salute to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force on completing 50 years of serving the nation. The force, guarding the 3,488 km Indo-China border in extreme conditions, is considered as one of the best mountain forces in the world.

The event commenced with performance by Bollywood singers Sachin-Jigar, which was followed by a stage performance of the newly-wedded Bollywood couple, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh. The evening ended with a splendid band performance by the ITBP band.

Speaking on the initiative, Rohit Kumar, DVP – Marketing, Zee News, said, “Zee News understands that media plays a vital role in promoting patriotism and national interest. Our initiative is in tune with this thought.”

Raised on October 24, 1962, ITBP initially started with four Battalions to guard the northern borders. Today, ITBP has 45 service Battalions, four Specialist Battalions and four training institutions. The Force mans border outposts along the entire Indo-China border in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh from Karakoram Pass to Jechap at an altitude ranging from 9,000 ft to 18,600 ft.

Apart from border guarding ITBP is also involved in preventing trans-border crime, smuggling, unauthorised entry and exit from India. ITBP is the nodal agency for Disaster Management in the Himalayas.
