Zee Kannada celebrates first anniversary in style

Zee Kannada has just finished celebrating the completion of its first year of operations with a grand bash at the Bangalore Palace Grounds on May 11. “Greeshma Vrishti – 2007” was a tribute to Kannada’s culture and heritage.

The evening kicked off with a synchronized dance performance to “Naada Geethe”, the state anthem. This was followed by musical performances by Abhinava, Gokul and Narayanswamy of Shadows, Raju Ananthaswamy and troupe and fusion dance performances by 5678. Vasant Bandekar, a Guinness Book record holder gave a rig tickling performance with his unique mimicry style.

Almost the entire Kannada film fraternity turned out on the occasion. Led by the late Rajkumar’s wife Parvatamma Rajkumar, the Kannada filmstars that turned up included Jayanti, Ravichandran, Ramesh Arvind, Jayamala, Ramya, Anu Prabhakar, Rakshita, Darshan, Dwaarkeesh, Devraj, Rockline Venkatesh, Naveen Krishnan, Ganesh, Prem, Gurukiran, Jaggesh, and Raghavendra Rajkumar, among others.

Said Anup Chandrashekaran, Business Head, Zee Kannada, “The second year would see the channel come up with a number of new initiatives and it will grow to new heights from the foundation that was laid in the first year.”
