Zee Cinema is celebrating the cinema of Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai, with ‘The Showman Show: A Subhash Ghai Film Festival’. The festival will air on the channel from November 18 onwards in the 8.30 pm time slot, commencing with the musical classic, ‘Karz’.
Commenting on the initiative, Mohan Gopinath, Deputy Business Head, Zee Cinema, “Indian cinema has so much to thank Subhash Ghai for. He is one of the few filmmakers who have genuinely enriched the canvas of Indian cinema through films that have withstood the test of time, characters that live on in our hearts even today, music that has been an instant and timeless rage, and lending to Hindi cinema some of its biggest superstars. Zee Cinema salutes the showman with ‘The Showman Show: A Subhash Ghai Film Festival’ presented by Colgate.”
The channel’s marketing campaign rides on the wave of a topical campaign that highlights the original song ‘Om Shanti Om’, thus creating nostalgia around the film ‘Karz’. The festival will include Ghai blockbusters such as ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Taal’, ‘Pardes’, ‘Karma’, ‘Hero’, ‘Yaadein’, ‘Trimurti’ and ‘Saudagar’.
In the past, the channel has paid homage to legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor through a similar ‘Showman Show’.
