Zee Café has added one of the popular daily soaps abroad, ‘The Young and the
Restless’, to its channel offerings. ‘The Young and the Restless’, which has been on air for over 8,500 episodes in the US, spanning over nearly 30 years, is the family saga of two wealthy families in the cosmetics industry.
Neil Chakravarti, Business Head, Zee Café, said, “This is a very popular show in America and we are screening it here in India for the first time. The show has had immense number of pages dedicated and devoted to it, given its popularity.”
Set in Genoa City, Wisconsin, the story revolves around the rivalry between two wealthy families, the Newmans and the Abbots. Victor Newman is the arrogant, cavorting billionaire with his wife Nikki; and on the other hand, there is the irresponsible, playboy CEO Jack Abbot and his sister Ashley. The story is about their lives and the competition between their two empires – Newman Enterprises and the Abbotts’ Jabot.
The channel has recently introduced a slew of new shows, including some reality television. Aiming to move into general entertainment, the channel has been trying to get a variety of programmes on air. Zee Café has also started airing Hollywood films from this month on.
