Zee Business consolidates evening time band, brings in 3 new shows

Zee Business is concentrating on its evening line-up and in order to consolidate the evening band, the channel has brought in three new shows from July 3.

‘Khabar Ab Tak’, a one-hour news show, will be aired at 5 pm, wherein it will highlight the big corporate and business news of the day. The programme, which will have live links with reporters across the country, will also have dedicated segments on the stock market and commodity markets.

‘Metro Masala’, to be aired every day at 8:30 pm, will showcase the impact of business on the lives of urban Indians. The show will analyse the impact of the latest technology and services on urban Indians.

Elaborating more on the show, Samir Ahluwalia, Editor, Zee Business, said, “‘Metro Masala’ will be about urban living and will have dedicated stories from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and mini-metros like Pune and Chandigarh. It’s a new format which will look at the positives of urbanisation.”

The channel isn’t removing any of its existing shows to accommodate the new line-up. The only exception is that of the discontinuation of the shopping show ‘Ab Ayega Mazaa’, which has completed more than 500 episodes. ‘Ab Ayega Mazaa’ will be taken off air from July 3. Said Ahluwalia, “The programme did really well right through, but we felt that it had somewhat outlived its utility now having given the viewers intelligent ways to shop.”

On why the channel felt the need to consolidate its evening programming, Ahluwalia replied, “Zee Business has the maximum variety in the evening band. We did a survey and felt that we needed to make certain changes to suit our viewer profile and fulfill their needs better. Zee Business has been doing well in the evenings and that’s why we felt we need to consolidate here.”

“Since we pioneered evening viewing in business channels, it was important for us to go on consolidating the band,” Ahluwalia added.

The channel is taking ‘Aapka Bazaar’ to the next level by launching ‘Aapka Bazaar Prime Time’, which will be a late-night edition of ‘Aapka Bazaar’ (aired every day at 12 pm). ‘Aapka Bazaar Prime Time’ will be an interactive show answering viewer queries on specific stocks.

The decision on programming changes in its evening time band has been taken after a detailed viewer feedback through a specifically commissioned survey. The channel was, however, non-committal on sharing details regarding the survey.
